Hui! Ei Nei
Ei Nei is a contemporary Hawaiian music trio rooted in mele, friendship, and a deep connection to place. Formed in 2016, the group brings together three accomplished musicians—Dane Fujiwara, Grant Kono, and Ekolu Chang.
Blending rich vocal harmonies with a smooth, falsetto-driven style, Ei Nei offers a modern interpretation of traditional Hawaiian music—one that honors the past while confidently looking toward the future. Their music is defined by thoughtful arrangements, cultural authenticity, and a shared commitment to storytelling through mele Hawaiʻi.
The trio quickly gained recognition after winning the Made in Hawai‘i Kani Ka Pila Grille Talent Search in 2017, signaling their arrival as a rising force in the local music scene. Their debut album Hui! (2019) debuted at #1 on the iTunes World Chart, further establishing their presence beyond the islands.
In 2020, Ei Nei earned the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award for Most Promising Artist, along with multiple nominations, marking a significant milestone in their growing career. Their music has since been featured in television, film, and even an Emmy Award–winning documentary, helping to share the voice of Hawaiʻi with audiences around the world.
Their latest project, Ei Nei, Look At Us, showcases the group at a new creative peak, featuring original compositions alongside fresh interpretations that continue to push the boundaries of contemporary Hawaiian music while staying firmly grounded in tradition.
At its core, Ei Nei represents more than a band—it is a celebration of culture, connection, and the evolving story of Hawaiian music.
